Description:
Here is a fine quality antique English Victorian and walnut and burgundy red leather revolving office desk armchair, circa 1880, in good condition. The chair has been newly upholstered in good quality burgundy red leather hide. The chair features an elegant curved leather back with leather backrest, above a two-tier bank of finely turned spindles, which curve round to form wraparound arms, supported by larger decorative etched spindles at the front on each side of the armchair. The sprung stuff over leather seat is extremely comfortable to sit on; it features brass studwork to its perimeter on a moulded bow front rail, flanked by symmetrical scribe carvings to the frieze. The chair stands on sturdy ring turned legs to the front, with splayed legs to the rear, terminating on brass castor collars and brown mug castors.
The chair displays a rich brown walnut colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning they have received.
Condition Report:
This chair is in good condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the chair frame, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chair has been newly upholstered in top quality full grain burgundy red leather, which incorporates the traditional brass studwork to the seat perimeter and arms. There are no tears or wear to the leather; the leather is in good condition. There is no damage or breaks to the back or legs; nor any loose movements to the arms. As the chair boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. The chair sits firm on the ground and does not wobble. This chair is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
