Description:
The chair features a curved bow back; secured by shaped wraparound arms, with an intricate central pierced fretwork panel, flaked by horizontal and vertical shaped support bars, all of which support the back to the seat frame. The chair features a top quality solid mahogany shaped ‘saddle seat’. The chair rotates 360 degrees on circular cast iron base, which incorporates ball bearings within the mechanism for a smooth swivel action. The chair mechanism has been cleaned and serviced and is in good working order. The chair stands on cabriole legs terminating on pad feet, which are united by shaped and pierced Chinese style shaped stretchers. The chair is very comfortable to sit on and it has a fantastic colour and is in good original condition.
Condition Report:
The chair and mechanism are in good original working condition. Nominal old use marks to the seat and leading edges of the chair frame, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chair frame has been cleaned and wax polished in our workshop. The revolving mechanism is in good working order, having been cleaned and serviced. The chair rotates smoothly on its original cast iron mechanism, which incorporates ball bearings for a smooth revolving action. There is some play to the mechanism, but this is perfectly acceptable, and in line with the age of the chair, and will be found in all office chairs of this age. The chair is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
