Georgian Mahogany Upholstered Side Chair

A very decorative Georgian mahogany upholstered side chair. The chair stands on typical Chippendale period serpentine moulded front legs joined by an 'H' stretcher. The upholstery while not eighteenth century is more likely Victorian but is a wonderful Georgian design of floral sprigs around a central vase. The chair is structurally very sound, would have stood on castors originally but these have gone. The mahogany is a dark colour but with a lovely patina where is has been rubbed and used. The upholstery is quite delicate and has some fraying and light damage, with some repair and therefore would be best used purely as a decorative item. C.1770.
