Good Pair of Yew Wood Windsor Chairs C1840

Description

A Nice pair of low back Windsor Armchairs in Yew Wood with Elm seat, crinolin stretchers, most probably from the Rockley workshop of George Nicholson, Rockley is a tiny hamlet on the old great north road just south of Retford, the founder of this workshop William Wheatland first made chairs in Retford he came to Rockley to set up a Wesleyan Chapel he was a Methodist Minister c 1827.

The condition of these fine chairs is excellent good colour and no loose joints
