Fine quality carved mahogany open scroll-arm desk chair of bold scale. Raised on reeded fore-legs with an ogee section moulded seat rail .

The shaped top rail of deeply swept flattened profile with stylised carved classical floral anthemion type detail . The top rail and central lumbar bar each with a central carved vacant tablet .The scroll arms with deep carved reeded decoration.

In good sound and sturdy 'Country-House' condition , with no breaks and only minor historic repairs to applied moulding on seat rails .Some fading to the original polished finish with some variation of colour and minor shrinkage to the ogee-moulded sections of the side seat rails .

Useful , practical and decorative armchair ideal for use with a desk in an office or library.
Designed to a well-known Gillows design and pattern and though not marked , the quality of the timber and construction, almost certainly point to an attribution for the reknown Lancaster and London cabinet-making firm .
