Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
It has a decorative satinwood inlaid centre back panel with cross banding along with boxwood and ebony string inlay. Emerging from the back are two elegantly out swept arms with reeded edges and beautifully turned reeded upright supports. The chair stands on splayed back legs, elegantly turned front legs and benefits from a seat upholstered in a pale green velvet fabric with matching braid trim. This antique chair would provide the perfect accompaniment to a period desk, It is a lovely warm medium shade of mahogany with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
