A very interesting and highly decorative gilt mirror in the Italian style. The mirror is typically Italian in shape and design but appears to be english made and dates to the Victorian period. The mirror is elaborately carved with scrolls and lattice and grotesque faces. The gilding is original and has worn beatifully revealing some of the red bole beneath. The mirror plate is the original and I love the way it shows through the lattice design. The whole is in excellent country house condition and indeed has some provenance to Thoresby Hall in Nottinghamshire. C.1880.
