This is a top quality pair of Edwardian carved mahogany armchairs, circa 1900, in the style of the Chippendale period, having newly upholstered seats, in very good condition. The chairs are constructed of solid mahogany and feature a serpentine top rail, with a carved floral central pediment, flanked by foliate carvings to the ears, below a finely executed pierced fretwork central splat, flanked by vertical rails. The splayed arms are decorated with scroll ends and are secured by shaped vertical supports. Incorporating a drop-in seat design, the seat frames are finely moulded. The seats been newly upholstered in top quality hardwearing silk damask upholstery, with traditional hessian material to the underside. Therefore the seats are in excellent and clean condition, with no marks. The seats are firm but comfortable; you do not sink into the seat.
