Description

This handsome, most impressive large gilt & gesso mirror dates from around 1870. The substantial frame retains its original gilt finish and has really attractive detail to the crest with shell design surrounded by flowers and foliage. The large central mirror is the original glass which is in remarkably clean condition. The gilding has an attractive patina with a slightly rubbed look in places revealing a lovely soft red beneath. The mirror has its original back boards complete and retains the original retailers lable from Rouen.

This substantial piece makes a great impact in any situation measuring 200 cms high by 120 cms wide at the extremities.
