A Japanese Silver Mounted and Basket Weave Trinket Box on Stand

1900 - 1920
Description

As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this nice quality Lacquered Hardwood Trinket Box with stand in original Tomobako, the Silver cover is finely decorated with an engraved pine tree further highlighted in Gilt and signed with chiselled Characters "Biko Koku" ( Made by Koku ), the exterior of the box and tray is clad with intricate basket work, the interior of the box and base of the tray are finished in black Lacquer, the whole presented in its original wooden Tomobako, a great gift or useful table box from the late Meiji period c 1910.

The condition is lovely throughout, for complete accuracy there are a couple of minor age related nibbles to the basket work.
