Here is a fine quality antique set of 8 English Georgian Chippendale style mahogany dining chairs by the renowned cabinetmakers, Waring and Gillows, constructed in the Edwardian period, circa 1910, in good condition. The set consists of six side chairs and two armchairs. The chairs are constructed of solid mahogany and feature a serpentine top rail, with a carved floral central pediment, flanked by foliate carvings to the ears, below a finely executed pierced fretwork central splat, flanked by vertical rails. Incorporating a drop-in seat design, the seat frames are finely moulded.

The chairs are raised on cabriole legs to front, with sabre legs to the rear. The armchairs mirror the design of the singles, with the addition of two splayed arms, decorated with foliate scroll carvings, secured by shaped vertical supports. Please note, this is a true set of chairs; they have not been matched together from smaller sets of similar chairs. This set of chairs has been produced by renowned cabinetmaker Waring and Gillows; each chair is stamped on the underside of the frame (see photos).

Condition Report:
These dining chairs are in good condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, frames and legs, but nothing significant considering the age of them. The seats have been newly upholstered; therefore the fabric is in excellent and clean condition, with no marks. The upholstery is therefore clean, free from wear and marks. If you do not like the colour/style of the upholstery, we can recover the seats in a fabric of your choice. If you would like the seats recovered, please contact us for a quote. The chairs retain the original polish; therefore they boast a fantastic patination and colour, which cannot be recreated if the chairs were re-polished.
