Here is a fine quality pair of Louis XV style upholstered walnut & tapestry salon armchairs, circa 1920, in good original condition. The chairs are constructed of solid walnut and feature pretty carved cartouches to the top rail, frieze and legs; with upholstered scroll arms, a shaped back and a serpentine front, raised on fine elegant cabriole legs. The chairs are upholstered in the original cream embroidered cotton floral tapestries, depicting a provincial country scene with floral detail. The tapestries are finished with the original hand tacked metal studs. Considering the upholstery is original, it’s in good condition boasting clean and vivid colours. The chair bases are firmly sprung so that you do not sink into the seats but at the same time are extremely comfortable.

The chairs feature a warm brown walnut colour. As they boast the original polish, they have a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

Condition Report:
The chairs are in good original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the walnut frames but nothing significant considering the age of them. The frames and arms are in good condition with no splits or loose movements. The chairs boast their original cotton tapestries, which still retain clean and vivid colours; they are free of any holes or damage. There are some faint water marks on the seats, near the base of the arms (please see photos) but these do not detract from the overall condition of the upholstery and it does not warrant replacing the original upholstery for this reason. The upholstery is finished with the original metal studs. As the chairs boast the original polish, they have a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning they have received. The chairs are solid in joint and ready to use.
