Here we have a rare Victorian John Shadford Windsor chair from Caistor, Lincolnshire c1870. As you can see the chair has excellent colour and patina. You will see from the photos the original sketches from John Shadfords notebook of this chair and an example of the rocking chair version. As you can see this has always been a chair and not a rocker without its runners. The chairs are much rarer than to rockers. There is a broad top rail with beautiful turned spindles below. Being a woodturner as well as a chair maker the sides supports are also well turned as are the legs and arm supports. There is a solid Elm seat with the rest of the cahir being Ash.
