Set of 18 Mahogany Dining Chairs by Morison & Co, Edinburgh

1900 - 1920
Description

Circa 1900, a good set of 18 mahogany dining room chairs by Morison & Co of Edinburgh. This set of chairs have been reupholstered with deep buttoned burgundy leather. The chairs have a carved top rail, fluted up-rights and the back legs are square and tapering. This matches the front legs, as they also taper downwards. There is a stylish rail below the seat. A similar set of chairs can be seen in the dining room at Lauriston Castle, Edinburgh. This was the home of the Reid family, who were the owners of Morison and Co of Edinburgh. The chairs were acquired from the William Hague Foundation in Edinburgh. The exhibition quality chairs are in superb condition.
