Georgian Antiques has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
These legs are slightly outswept. The front legs are also square and have chamfered corners, with wonderful style carved blind fretwork similar to Chippendale chairs of the same period. The cross stretchers of the chair have open fretwork with geometric and floral patterns, again reminiscent of Chippendale chairs of the period. The chair has been reduced slightly in height but is nonetheless a stylish chair.
