A Substantial and Decorative 19thc Oval Wall Mirror

19th century
Description

A Victorian period large oval wall mirror with profuse foliate decoration. The frame later over painted in a grey white finish suitable for todays decorative fashion. Large puti to the base and stylized cartouche to the top both surrounded by gesso leaves and mouldings. The original mirror plate with blemishes and line deterioration where the mercury has aged but this only serves to verify its age. (See photos). Good original brass wall fixings (4) to the rear together with a central hanging eye to the top.

Overall 118 cms tall and 78 cms wide

The exposed mirror plate about 73 cms by 63 cms.
