A very fine PAIR of late 18th century mahogany Hepplewhite period LIBRARY ARMCHAIRS in splendid original condition.

Pairs of these elegant genuine period chairs are hard to find; this pair is exceptional, with well-carved arms; shaped seats supported on slender carved front legs and splayed rear legs, themselves with carved terminals. Overall measurements: 26ins wide; 28ins deep; 35ins high. (66 x 71 x 89cms). PRICED FOR THE PAIR.

* George Hepplewhite (c1727-1786) was (with Chippendale and Sheraton) one of the "Big Three" of English cabinetmakers. His designs were influenced by French furniture, with their elegant slender lines. Note that these chairs possess not a single straight line.
