Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Victorian furniture encompasses a range of revival styles popular during the reign of Queen Victoria, characterising intricate craftsmanship, heavy use of dark woods like walnut and mahogany, and elaborate ornamentation.

These pieces typically utilised solid pine or oak carcases veneered with figured walnut, embellished with marquetry or brass mounts, and featured hand-cut dovetails and traditional glass glazing.

Authentic pieces often show period-appropriate construction methods such as hand-cut joinery, old-growth wood grain patterns, hand-beveled glass, and natural wear consistent with nineteenth-century usage.

Pairing historical wooden furniture with minimalist modern surroundings creates a striking focal point, allowing the rich tones and intricate inlay work to stand out against neutral walls.

Maintain antique wooden cabinets by keeping them away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dusting regularly with a dry cloth, and occasionally applying microcrystalline wax to nourish the timber.
