Mid 19th Century Broad Armed Fruitwood High Back Windsor Chair

A mid 19th century broad armed fruitwood high back Windsor chair from the North of England, probably Yorkshire.

This chair has a wonderful patina and consists of various woods, the seat being elm, the back splat yew and the majority of the chair being made of fruitwood.

The top hoop has four tapered spindles either side of a fir tree design central splat with two turned spindles one either side of the central fir tree fretted splat with two turned underarm supports.

This leads down to the seat made of elm is a wonderfully shaped saddle design.

The legs are turned with cup and tulip shaped feet, these are linked with an H-stretcher with two cross-stretchers with a central ball decoration.

This chair is in excellent condition, is of stable construction and can go straight into a home.
