Fruitwood Georgian Armchair

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Prometheus Antiques

A very unusual Georgian period armchair made in fruitwood. This type of chair is usually mahogany thus fruitwood is interestingly different. The design of chair is often termed a London ladderback because of the fine nature of the manufacture compared to standard country ladderback chairs. The armchair stands on square profile legs with a drop in seat upholstered in French toile de jouy fabric. The arms are beautifully outswept and the back is nicely shaped and fretted. The fruitwood has a lovely colour and patina. THe chair is in excellent condition and very sturdy.
