A Matched Set of Eight 18th Century Dutch Marquetry Chairs

A superb matched set of eight 18th century Dutch marquetry walnut dining chairs.

This set consists of a matching set of six single chairs and a matched pair of armchairs, all from the same period of the late 18th century.

The chairs consist of a shaped top rail with vase shaped back splat all profusely inlaid with floral marquetry depicting flowers, foliage, figures and Classical urns.

The armchairs have scrolling arms also with marquetry decoration.

All eight chairs have drop in seats upholstered in a neutral fabric (this can easily be changed to a fabric of your choice once purchased).

The front seat rails are shaped, also with marquetry decoration, the seat rails on the armchairs being deeper in design and the marquetry inlay is carried round to the shaped side rails.

The single chairs have decorative cabriole legs to the front with carved shell decoration to the knee, supported by wavy stretchers and terminating with a ball and claw foot.

The armchairs also have cabriole legs to the front inlaid with floral marquetry supported by a wavy stretcher and terminating with a pointed toe.

This set of chairs are in very good original condition and can go straight into a home.
