The set of chairs consists of 2 armchairs and 6 side chairs. This set of chairs has been newly upholstered in top quality hardwearing ivory diamond pattern chenille quality upholstery, finished with antique hand-tacked brass studs to the perimeter of the seat frame; this would have reflected the original style of upholstery used during this period. The chairs feature arched padded high-backs for extra comfort. Below the backs of the chairs are burr walnut banding with ebony inlay.
The chairs stand on cabriole legs with a flat reeded design and acanthus leaf carvings to the knees on block feet. The undersides of the chair feature traditional hessian upholstery. This is an original full and true set of chairs. They have not been matched together from smaller sets of chairs.
Condition Report:
This set of chairs is in excellent original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the chairs but nothing significant considering the age of the chairs. The chairs have been newly re-upholstered in hardwearing Ivory colour chenille upholstery. The upholstery is therefore clean, free from wear and marks. The seat frames and chair joints are also solid. The chairs boast a dark oak colour and patination. As they boast the original polish, they have a fantastic colour and patination. This rich original colour cannot be re-created if the chairs have been re-polished. There are also no breaks to the backs, frames or legs of any of the chairs. All chairs are solid in joint and are ready to be used.
