Fine Quality Early 20thc Mahogany Pier Mirror in the William Kent Style

A fine quality early 20th century mahogany pier mirror in the William Kent style.

This mirror consists of a central carved cartouche decoration with scroll swan neck pediment at either side.

The pediments are carved with superb quality designs of egg and dart and foliage decoration.

Below is a central carved Classical female mask with carved swag decoration at either side and with carved paterae at the outer edges.

The bevelled rectangular glass is original, it has been concealed for photographic reasons but it is in excellent condition.

The mirror is surrounded by a carved ribbon moulding as well as egg & dart carved decoration with carved scrolling acanthus

This leads down to a scroll shaped design at either side of the frame

At the base of the frame is a finely carved Vitruvian scroll design with carved paterae at each end carved acanthus decoration.

The William Kent style was heavily influenced by architecture and Classical images and these styles are reflected in this mirror.

This piece is in excellent condition and can go straight into a home.
