LVS Decorative Arts has dated this piece to the 1910s.
The elegant arms are of outswept design and are superbly carved with foliate decoration leading down to the arm supports with carved paterae to the top also with carved foliate decoration.
The seats are upholstered in a yellow fabric at present but this could easily be changed once purchased.
The seat rails are moulded and carved with foliate decoration with carved paterae to the top of the legs, the legs being turned & tapered also with carved leaf decoration to the top leading down to a fluted section and terminating with a turned and carved leaf foot.
This pair of chairs are of the finest quality and have been made by a very fine cabinetmaker.
Due to the construction of the chairs the backs have been laminated which gives the chairs more stability and strength.
These chairs are a copy of an original 18th century chair designed by Robert Adam. An original such chair was sold in 1989 for £21000.00, this example can be found in the book 'British Antique Furniture' 6th edition by John Andrews, page 159, plate 131
These chairs are in excellent condition and can go straight into a home.
