Antique Walnut Long Case Clock.

A George II walnut cased longcase clock of eight day duration,striking hours on a bell by Joseph Oxley of Norwich.
 
The movement has a pull repeat facitity. The 12'' brass dial has a calendar aperture and subsidiary seconds dial,the makers name is on a signed boss in the arch.
 
The case has some highly figured walnut on the trunk door and plinth front. This is an elegant and imposing clock from the middle period of the 18th century. Standing at 86'' this clock will grace most modern homes.
 
We believe that this clock is completely original and is a very good investment at this price.
 
Joseph Oxley was of a Quaker family, and died in 1775.
