Set of 4 Chippendale Style Mahogany Dining Chairs

Description

Circa 1890, set of 4 carved mahogany Chippendale style dining chairs, with retailors label beneath ‘Hampton & Sons Ltd, Pall Mall East London’. The stylish ribband back has a foliate carved top, shaped carved ears, and a wonderful central splat with open fretwork, swags and bell drops. The uprights are reeded and finish in a foliate carving. The stuffover seats are covered in crushed velour, which is held in place by gimp. The back legs are outswept and the front legs have carved quarter blocks and heavily carved knees, finishing on ball and claw feet. All the chairs have great colour, are sound and very stylish.

Size 97cm high x 58cm wide x 48cm deep.
