Set of 4 Dutch Marquetry Chairs

19th century
Description

Circa 1860, good set of 4 Dutch floral marquetry chairs in the classic design and style. The chairs have a high back, the raised arch with a marquetry panel of a basket of flowers and beneath this the back splat is profusely inlaid with various foliage, birds, flowers and urns, as are all the uprights and all the facing sections. There is a serpentine drop in seat pad. The apron of the chairs again have foliate inlay. The back legs are splayed and slightly turned towards the end. The front legs are carved cabriole legs which finish with a ball and claw foot. Elegant, clean and stylish.

Size 112cm high x 50cm wide x 42cm deep.
