Magnificent and Impressive Pair of French Empire Chairs

19th century
Description

This very heavy quality pair of chairs date from the latter part of the 19th century, they are a copy of the original French empire period when Napoleon was in Egypt. This great pair of chairs are beautifully lined in red silk with laurel motifs. The timber is of outstanding quality and the armchairs have wonderful bronze winged lions supporting the legs, also bronze lion paw feet. The arms are supported by sphinxes. There are bronze roundels and bronze cart-ouches to the frames. A truly amazing pair of chairs.
