Prior and Willis has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
A great rare find (particularly with carvers), with a very simple elegant design.
Date from the first half of the 19th Century (1800 - 1850).
Solid, heavy and strong with no loose joints and no woodworm.
One chair is identical to the other 3 but very slightly larger (5cm wider and 5cm deeper). It seems that the set was made like this, with the larger one being dad's chair. Visually in use, it would be difficult to spot.
Recently restored and reupholstered. The seat covers have no wear and only minor marks or signs of use.
Overall maximum dimensions:
Chairs: 48cm wide, 47cm deep, 87cm high (46.5cm high seat when sat on).
Dad's chair: 53cm wide, 52cm deep, 87cm high (46.5cm high seat when sat on).
