The chairs boast a prominent shaped top rail with a central fan motif, flanked by two upright supports featuring simple finials. Below, there is a bank of refined turned spindles, secured by two horizontal square rails. The seats have recently been re-rushed by hand; therefore the rush seats are in excellent condition. The base of the chairs feature lovely turned legs and a bulbous shaped stretcher to the front. The front stretcher is heavy and turned – a good sign of quality. The chairs feature twin connecting side stretchers; which ensures the chairs stand firm on the ground. All chairs are made from top quality ash and elm and are firm and solid.

This is a true set of chairs and not a matched set where similar chairs have been pieced together to form a set. The term “full age” refers to the meaning that these chairs are full in age and are not later copies of the original spindle back chairs. These chairs have originated from the Lancashire and Cheshire region of North west of England but were also known as a “Lancashire” chair.

Condition Report:
These chairs are in excellent original condition. This is an original full and true set of chairs. They have not been matched together from smaller sets of chairs (which you see in some other similar sets of chairs for sale). The seats have recently been re-rushed by hand; therefore the rush seats are in excellent condition. As the chairs boast the original polish, they have a lovely warm colour and patination. The chairs are heavy in weight, which is a good sign of quality. The frames of the chairs are solid and in excellent condition with no splits, breaks or lose movements. The chairs sit firm on the ground, do not wobble and are ready to use.
