A really top quality Victorian Nursing chair in Ebonised hard wood mounted with ormolu. The chair stands on turned and carved front legs with french splayed back legs. The top of the legs are mounted with superb gilded ormolu foliate paterae and the rest of the frame has ormolu foliate moulding applied in the frieze. The upright side supports have an elegant twist and are mounted with ormolu beading and small rosettes with carved orb terminals. The chair is in superb untouched condition with some slight rubbing to the ebonising. The upholstery is of some age and also of wonderful quality in a french grey regency type fabric, and again in excellent condition. C.1860.
