Mid C19th early Victorian period mahogany 'horse-shoe' back library reading or desk chair . Quality mahogany-framed chair with recently upholstered black leather serpentine out-line seat and panelled back-rest featuring brass close-nail dome-stud decoration. Well-carved splat back , carved terminals to the ends of back , and carved cabriole legs fitted with original brass castors, splayed rear supports with original brass castors. Very stylish chair taking its inspiration from the Ancient Greek classical "Klismos" chair . No breaks or repairs, cleaned and waxed . The seat also having been re-webbed . Excellent condition , superior grade of timber with good original rich patina.
