Most Unusual Set of 6 French Oak "Lion" Chairs. C. 1880

Description

Most unusual and wonderful quality set of six late 19th century French solid oak chairs. The beautifully carved legs with lion paw feet and carved leaf type decoration. The tops of the chairs also carved like lions heads.

There is chamfered decoration to the chairs in various places. They are sturdy and resonably heavy. The seats and backs are look-a-like leather with large round brass studs.

One of the chairs bears the remains of a Paris makers label as can be seen in the pictures.

SIZES; 17" across the front of the seat. 36" high overall
