This set of chairs retains the original polish, which is why the chairs have a fantastic depth of colour and patination. They boast a lovely mellow brown mahogany colour; it is impossible to re-create this colour if the chairs have been re-polished. The chairs have drop in seats, which have been newly upholstered in top quality hard wearing taupe shade wool & cotton upholstery. The chairs feature an attractive “balloon” shaped back, with a carved central splat. The carved central rail makes this set of chairs more refined than the standard balloon back chair design. The chairs stand on ring turned front legs, sabre rear legs and the seat frame boasts an elegant serpentine front rail. The chairs are firm and would look good anywhere in either a formal room or for in a room for everyday use.
Condition Report:
This set of chairs is in very good condition. This set of chairs retains the original polish; which is why the chairs boast such a lovely brown mahogany colour and patination; it is impossible to re-create this colour if the chairs have been re-polished. Consequently, there are nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the chairs and minor colour variation. The drop-in seats have been freshly re-upholstered in taupe shade wool & cotton upholstery. The upholstery is therefore clean, free from wear and marks. The seat frames and chair joints are also solid. There are no breaks to the backs, frames or legs of any of the chairs. All chairs are solid in joint and are ready to be used.
