Antique Regency Gilt Pier Mirror

19th century
Description

A delightful regency pier mirror. This Georgian narrow console hall wall mirror is gilded in 24 ct gold leaf with a central frieze in relief depicting lions pulling a fair maiden in a wheeled chariot. Flanked by reeded columns surmounted by acanthus leaf carved capitols. The gilding is high quality as you would expect from an English mirror which retains its original glass plate and back boards. Circa 1810. Measures 47”h x 24.5”w(27.5”w at the top). Glass 34”h x18.5”w. Excellent condition; the glass is foxed in some areas- see images for detail.
