Description

An absolutely stunning 19th century hall chair attributable to the Rolls Royce of English cabinetmakers Gillows of Lancaster. The seat is adorned with a finely detailed moulding to its top surface and is supported by stylishly accentuated sabre legs to the front with beautifully moulded front edges. The front rail under the seat is similarly moulded. The back is comprised of a typically Gillows design; a deeply carved reeded shell motif supported by crisply carved c-scrolls all of the very highest quality. This exquisite late Georgian/early Victorian hall chair is dated to c.1830.
