Pair of early C19th Regency period 'Grecian-revival' style mahogany chairs. Stylish pair of side chairs of classically-referenced design , with classical Grecian motif carving, featuring acanthus, lotus and palmettes. The shaped lumbar-support splat with a central tablet. Probably influenced by the drawings and designs of Thomas Hope and Charles Heathcote-Tatham , inspired by the architecture from the ancient classical Empires of Rome ,Greece and Eygpt. Standing on reeded fore-legs , the back with a stylish deeply-raked angle. Original mellow green hide upholstery to seats . One chair with old repairs to top-rail .
