Early C19th Regency period carved gilt-wood framed convex mirror . Well-carved gilt-wood frame mirror of impressive scale with eagle-surmounted top .In good original condition with no losses or repairs to carving . Leaf-carved /foliate top with carved foliate and 'c' scroll apron to base , the eagle with outstretched wings perched on a plinth with a rock-work pedestal. The convex plate with original mercury silvering showing some nicely 'foxed'/blackened aged areas. The moulded-edge cavetto frame surround with applied sphere decoration , and inset with an ebonised and reeded slip. Some minor rubbing to gilding , but overall with a pleasing and sympathetically-aged mellow patina and finish.
