Victorian Carved Walnut Armchair Slipper Back

19th century
Description

19th Century Victorian carved mixed wood (walnut, satin birch and beech) armchair. Quality, attractive and well made armchair, with no loose joints (slight movement in the arms, but all is very strong) or wobbles. The rear castors have been removed as is fashionable, but the seat is still relatively level. The upholstery is not new, with wear and marks.

Historical repairs, as is the norm, but all is solid now. We have not inspected components concealed beneath the upholstery, but the seat is quite comfortable without the typical lumps and bumps of an antique chair. There are some historical woodworm holes (believed extinct) that we have treated for good measure. Wear to front castors as is to be expected.

Overall maximum dimensions: 69cm wide, 88cm deep, 97cm high (37cm high seat when sat on).

Please check dimensions before purchasing.

We can organise competitive UK and Worldwide courier delivery, please contact us for a quotation.

Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
