Victorian Oak Leather Armchair Barley Twist

19th century
Description

Victorian 19th Century oak leather armchair, throne chair or carver with heavy barley twist decoration. Fantastic Gothic styling. Quality, attractive and well made armchair, with no loose joints or wobbles. A heavy, solid and strong chair. The red leather upholstery is old, with wear and cracking, but no splits or holes.

As with all genuine antique furniture, you can expect to see some historic knocks, marks, wear, imperfections, cracks, scratches, repairs and/or alterations. Historical repairs, as is the norm, but all is solid now. We have not inspected components concealed beneath the upholstery, but the seat is quite comfortable without the typical lumps and bumps of an antique chair. No visible woodworm. Period brass castors to the front legs (with some wear as you might expect), later replacements to the rear.

Overall maximum dimensions: 66cm wide, 79cm deep, 116cm high (43cm high seat when sat on).

Please check dimensions before purchasing.

We can organise competitive UK and Worldwide courier delivery, please contact us for a quotation.

Item reference WNA-3536L68.

Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
