A Beautifully Rustic Primitive Chair

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Waterfall Antiques

An astonishing find; a beautifully rustic country-made small chair dating from the late Georgian/early Victorian era. This wonderfully primitive chair has a solid English elm seat supported by four simple leg supports. Above the seat is an arrangement of four ash spindles surmounted by a gently bowed top rail. It retains its original finish with a rich, glowing colour and a deep patination. A stunning example which would grace any country property. English, c.1825 – c.1850.
