A Very Fine Large Gilt Framed Mirror

Description

An extremely high quality rectangular gilt-framed mirror which can be hung in portrait or landscape orientation. The refined delicately-etched frame has a beaded sight edge and a plain-moulded outer section. The original mercury glass – although not having a sparkling/glistening effect – has a wonderfully warm reflection, and the the ten-panel backing boards are also original. This beautiful example can be hung as a wall mirror, but it would also be ideal as an overmantel. It dates from the early Victorian period, c.1840s/1860s.
