A truly magnificent example of a medium to large sized 19th century gilt-framed mirror. The superb palm-leaf adorned frame has a central motif at low level comprised of crossed sprigs intertwined with ribbon. It is surmounted by a stunning cresting having a floral centre flanked by scrolling acanthus leaves. This beautiful mirror, ideal as a general purpose decorative wall mirror or as a spectacular overmantel, dates from the last quarter of the 19th century. The bevelled glass plate and the nine-panel backing board are both original.
