Description

Stylish pair of antique Swedish mahogany armchairs in lovely original condition. The wood is a lovely colour & the figuring within the wood is stunning, especially on the backs. They have just come over from Sweden, been gently polished & recovered in a grey linen fabric. These chairs have very generous proportions, with wide 'Trafalgar' backs, scroll over arms & sabre legs. There are also some beautifully carved laurel wreath designs on the backs. I would say they date from around the 1890-1910 period. Pairs of 'Empire' style armchairs like these are becoming extremely hard to find & are very sought after.

Depth - 23.6", 60 cm

Height - 35.8", 91 cm

Seat height - 18", 46 cm

Date of Manufacture

Marylebone Antiques has dated this piece to the 1910s.
