Description

Here we have a wonderful and rare Caistor rocking chair made by John shadford c1870. As you can see the chair has excellent colour and patina retaining some original stain throughout. Being a chair maker and wood turner beneath the overslung top rail there are beautifully turned spindles and side supports. The arm supports are also well turned with lovely shaped arms with fantastic grain. The undertier has beautifully turned legs and original runners. Please see the photographs of the original sketches for these chairs. A rare and stunning chair in excellent retail condition.
