The chairs are constructed of solid walnut and feature high shaped backs, straight fronts and carved bobbin turned legs, which are connected with turned shaped stretchers. The armchairs feature down swept arms, which terminate in scroll ends carved with acanthus leaves. The chairs feature a velvet tapestry. There is some wear to the backrest of the chair and the chairs would benefit from being re-upholstered. These chairs would make a great upholstery project! The upholstery is finished with brass studs to the frame. The backs and undersides of the chair feature similar upholstery. The seats are firmly sprung so that you do not sink into the seats but at the same time are extremely comfortable.
The frames of the chairs feature a rich walnut brown colour. As they boast the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
Condition Report:
The chair frames are in excellent condition. The velvet tapestry upholstery on the back of chairs is worn and the chairs would benefit from being re-upholstered. These chairs would make a great upholstery project! The brass studwork to the chair frame is complete. The seat springs are firm but comfortable. There is no damage or breaks to the back or legs; nor any lose movements to the arms - the arms are in good condition. Free of active woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.
