Georgian Antiques has dated this piece to the 1890s.
The uprights are supported by carved simulated acanthus leaves. The arms have a wonderful shape and painted centre which runs down the fore edge and sides. There are carved flowers where they join the top of the legs. The front legs are square, tapering and reeded at the front and painted on the out sections, standing on a very stylish toe. The back legs are rectangular and outswept. The chairs are in extremely good condition and recently traditionally re-upholstered. One of the chairs has a label on the underside ‘Edwards & Roberts, 148-160 Wardour Street, 532 Oxford Street, London’.
Size 92cm high x 60cm wide x 50cm deep.
