A Superb set of 12 dining chairs in Mahogany, 10 singles and 2 carvers from the period of George IV, these are an exceptionally high quality set of chairs in excellent condition fully restored, the polish is original and has been cleaned and waxed leaving the chairs with a very pleasing colour and patina. This set of chairs were made for the Rawson family (probably William Rawson)of Halifax (Sowerby Bridge) Yorkshire by the Halifax cabinet makers Simpson and Co and remained with the family until last year, the house was built by the famous Yorkshire Architect John Carr of York(more provenance can be supplied)The seats are upholstered with tan leather which is not original but has been on the chairs probably from the late 19th century.
