Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1900s.
Originating from the old Co-op store in Todmorden this simple and stylish mirror was used in the clothing department to provide customers with the ideal reflection of themselves when trying on potential purchases. The simple moulded oak cornice and surround have a certain retro look and would fit perfectly in a modern home (or store) today. The base of the frame has two fielded panels which balance the look of the mirror well. The oak is a golden shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
