Description

Circa 1880, pair of exhibition quality George III style Chippendale ribband back chairs. The back is profusely carved in solid mahogany with ribbons, swags, tails and foliate carving forming a wonderful symmetric design with interlacing carving across the entire back. The top rail is also carved and shaped. The chairs have a stuffover seat and beneath this on the front and sides is a carved gadroon apron. All standing on elegant carved cabriole legs at the front with carved toes and outswept legs at the back finishing on small pad feet. Excellent colour and patination.
